I am a huge fan of anything Springbank. I have tried the 10, the 12, the 15 and own the 18. Some of the cask Strength some Burgundy Finish, but I have yet try something so phenomenal in this line like the Springbank 19. Aged for 19 years in a used sherry cask, this whisky was bottled at cask strength at a pretty high proof margin of 112.8% proof. That’s quite up there. And you can taste it in the first sip as this liquid gold hits your lips. Springbank Single Malt Whisky is free of artificial coloring and non-chill filtered. Springbank 19 Year Old Single Cask was distilled November 1994. Matured in Refill Sherry casks. Bottled September 2014.

Name: Springbank Single Cask 19 year Cask Strength

Region: Campbeltown, Scotland

Nose: Fruits, Sherry and Wild berries. Some dark cacao and butterscotch.

Palate: Sherry sweet and salty mixture, oak and cinnamon, peppery towards the end of the palate with banana like sweetness

Finish: Complex, spicy and almost too elegant for its own good

Two drops of water opens this whisky up to some interesting flavors. Lots of vanilla cream come forward, the dry sweetness of sherry pours through as well. But its still very delicious even at cask strength and its still very drinkable at that high proof.
