So right off the bat, this was a bottle we tasted at an amazing whisky club held monthly in NYC by two friends, Marlon and Charlie. This particular event held was about The Highland Park line, and this particular bottle stood out for me as the winner of the night.

Name: Highland Park 25 year Old Bottled in 2004

ABV: 50.7%

Nose: Strong and musky, like dried fungus mushrooms. Also there is a hint of sherry, and dried berry fruits. You have to let it swirl around in the bottle before consumption. It’s very strong.

Palate: Dark chocolate with sweetness from brown sugar, leather and tobacco play a role on the tongue as well. It starts off very complex, between all the flavors commingle together, but then with time you notice notes of honey and cereal with sherry wood. Spices and Dark Chocolate last on the back end once the dram dries down on the tongue.

Finish: Long and sherried with cocoa and sweetness. Very warm and sensual, lasts a good 1-2 minutes after consumption.
