Name: George Dickel Sour Mash Whisky – Hand Selected Barrel – 9 years of age
ABV: 51.5% – 103 proof
Nose: Honey caramel, vanilla and cereal with floral citrus are at the top of the nose. Swirling the bourbon around the glass opens up other notes, toasted wood, dry oak, and leather. Toffee and tobacco are also present but a lot lighter.
Palate: Pretty spicy at 103 proof, a drop of water mellows out the dram quite nicely. Cinnamon, orange zest, tobacco and honeyed vanilla linger on the tip of the tongue. Spices and Wood also leave a lingering sensation on the back of the palate.
Finish: Medium and bold, nice spice that slowly turns into velvety sweetness. Caramel pineapples and peach citrus lingers around for 1-2 minutes. Finishes quite nice.
