Maria, please tell us a little about yourself.
MH: I’m a 32 year old model, 5 feet tall and Latina born in Mexico
How did you find yourself in the world of modeling and what would you say your genre of modeling is? Is there a particular theme you’re going for?
MH: Actually, a year ago I left a long toxic relationship and my first thought was to book a boudoir photoshoot to try and gain my confidence and powers back, I posted a few of the photos on my Instagram and all of a sudden I started getting offers to shoot and it took off from there I have now had about 40 photoshoots since December 2021.
I’ll say my genre is a mix of freelance and boudoir as well as shibari. There is not a particular theme in going for I’m just having fun doing what I like, I love creative photoshoots as much as I love my boudoir photoshoots.
When doing a shoot, is it the photographer that “puts you in the mood,” or do you find your inspiration elsewhere?
MH: I believe it’s a teamwork, I could come with the best mood ever and if the photographer doesn’t follow the vibe, it gets awkward. My inspiration comes from everywhere from movies, posts, books, imagination etc.
Who, if anyone, is your favorite photographer to work with and why?
MH: I have my favorites depending on the type of shoot, but they are too many and a lot of great talent out there.
Do you think there is a lack of honest conversations around sexuality in our society? If everyone is having sex, why is it such a sin to talk about it?
MH: Sex has been seen as a taboo for the longest time, I believe it depends how you are raised and honestly coming from a Hispanic family sex is never talked about they fill us with beliefs of shame. I believe it should be talked about more often because a lot of people are missing out on pleasure just because of old beliefs.
If someone wanted to seduce you, what would they need to do right?
MH: There must be chemistry, make me laugh, be corny, smart, bring me flowers and take me on dates I love a romantic man.
Being part of an industry whose only emphasis is on the outside characteristics of a person, how have you stayed grounded?
MH: I know where I came from and I have had everything and lost everything, I have met so many people of different backgrounds and one thing we all have in common is that we are still humans with feelings we make mistakes and whatever we show on the outside does not define what’s inside.
What is your personal fashion style?
MH: I have an all over the place fashion style lol, one day you’ll see me wearing high heels and a dress to the movies and the other day wearing jeans converse and a hoodie it all depends on my mood I also like to wear wigs on random days.
What are the few things that you enjoy about modeling?
MH: Meeting people, dressing up, and getting the final results of the shoot.
Do you prefer your partner to be in control or do you want to be in control?
MH: I’m a submissive woman in the bedroom to the right man. I like my freedom so there has to be a balance he can’t have total control of me, and neither can I. Treat me good outside the bedroom and you’ll get the best inside.
What do you think is the best way of succeeding and being recognized as an alternative model?
MH: Put yourself out there. Don’t be afraid to post all your work and don’t get inside your head, stay humble and have fun. People are looking for one day it will be your time.
